How I Put It Together

I made the project using Garageband on a Mac computer.
  • First of all i had to open the Garageband programme on the desktop.
  • Then you click on open a new project.
  • This will bring up a new blank project.
  • To insert a new track you click on 'track' at the top of the programme. This will bring up a drop down menu. There will be an option saying 'new track' this will insert a new track to your project. There are 2 options of what type of track you want. There is one that is a real instrument track that lets you record any instruments on the programme or records your voice or real instrument through a microphone. The other option is the sample track. This lets you insert loops that are pre-recorded onto the system. It will also let you add sound effects and music.
  • When making the jingle I used the sample track and inserted drum loops accompanied by a track underneath it with string instruments and also another track with a bass line.
  • To alter the levels of volume there is a button with an arrowhead pointed downwards next to the name of the track. This will bring out a volume level on the actual track which then allows you to drag the volume higher and lower in the places necessary. This meant I could leave it reasonably loud until the presenter and guest come in which meant I had to reduce the volume at this point until it was just loud enough to hear with speaking but not too loud that it would distract the audience. I made sure that the volume gradually decreased so that it would sound a lot smoother than suddenly becoming very quiet.
  • After altering the sound levels for the sounds in the background I then focused on the talking over the top. I used a microphone and went into a quiet environment to get the clearest recording without background noise. I then interviewed my guest and recorded the conversation. I then imported the clip onto a new 'real instrument' track and altered the volume to make sure it wasn't too loud or distorted.
